Interview to Marian Bodi,Finance Director of I.S.D.D. plus s.r.o.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
To me, entrepreneurship is about turning ideas into real value—and then doing it again and again, every day, for years. When we started I.S.D.D. over 25 years ago, the vision was simple: help organizations solve complex problems through well-crafted software. What I’ve learned since is that entrepreneurship is much more than building a product. It’s about building a team, a culture, and ultimately a company that people trust—both from the inside and the outside. In custom software development, there are no shortcuts. Every project is unique, every client’s challenge is different. That’s what makes it exciting—and that’s what keeps the entrepreneurial mindset alive, even after two decades. You have to stay curious, keep learning, and never stop listening to the people around you. Ultimately, entrepreneurship is about building things that matter—with the right people, the right values, and a long-term perspective.
What is the biggest experience or lesson gained on your growth journey so far?
One of the biggest lessons on our growth journey has been that sustainable success is built around people, not just ideas or technology. In the early stages of a company, it’s easy to focus mainly on the product, the business model, or the next opportunity. But over time you realize that the real differentiator is the team you build and the culture you create together. A pivotal moment for us was the decision to develop our own product, EnergoHub—a platform for managing renewable energy sources. On paper, it wasn’t the most obvious move for a custom software company. It required significant investment, a different mindset, and patience until it got certified by national electricity transmission authority That experience taught us something important: the projects that carry the most meaning—where purpose and business align—are the ones that bring out the best in your team. When people feel they’re building something that matters beyond profit, their commitment and creativity go to a completely different level.
How is your company acting as a game changer in the landscape?
At I.S.D.D., we’ve made two deliberate bets that set us apart. The first is our early and systematic adoption of AI across the entire software development lifecycle. Rather than treating AI as just another tool, we made a conscious decision to integrate it deeply into our development processes, internal workflows, and the way we design solutions for clients. By deploying AI broadly across the organization ahead of many others in the industry, we’ve been able to significantly increase productivity, accelerate development cycles, and improve the quality and consistency of our work. It allows our teams to focus more on architecture, problem-solving, and delivering real business value, while routine tasks are handled more efficiently. The second is how we invest in our people. We restructured the entire delivery organization, promoted talented people into new leadership roles, and gave them real ownership over their teams and projects. We offer our people space for personal and professional development, mentoring, and a culture where initiative is valued. The result speaks for itself: our employee turnover has stayed below 2% for years—in an IT industry where 15% is considered normal. That level of stability and commitment is a genuine competitive advantage that our clients feel directly in every project.
What should your life motto be?
“Stay resilient and always deliver on your promises.” Building a company in a fast-moving industry like technology inevitably comes with challenges, unexpected turns, and moments of uncertainty. What matters most is resilience—the ability to stay focused, adapt, and keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned. Equally important to me is reliability. When you make a commitment—to a client, your team, or a partner—you should do everything in your power to deliver on it. Trust is built over time, and consistently keeping your word is one of the most valuable foundations for any long-term business relationship. After 25 years in this business, I can say with confidence: resilience and reliability together will take you further than any single brilliant idea.
ELITE: Why can it be the game-changing opportunity companies should consider?
For many technology SMEs, the biggest challenge isn’t just building a great product or service—it’s gaining the visibility, credibility, and connections needed to scale beyond their home market. That’s exactly why we joined ELITE. As a Slovak company with ambitions to grow our presence across Central Europe and beyond, we see ELITE as a unique platform that connects us with like-minded companies, investors, and advisors who understand the challenges and opportunities of scaling a technology business. Programs like ELITE help SMEs professionalize their governance, sharpen their strategy, and become better prepared for future investment or partnership opportunities. For companies like ours, which have built a strong foundation over 25 years and are now entering a new growth phase, this kind of ecosystem can make all the difference. I’d encourage any ambitious SME leader to explore what ELITE has to offer—it’s not just about capital, it’s about being part of a community that pushes you to think bigger
