As we are nearly half way through 2019, here at ELITE we wanted to celebrate the great companies that have joined our community and look back at the numerous events, workshops and market opens that have taken place in the first half of 2019.

Growing the community

It’s great to announce that 38 companies have joined from across the UK and Europe this year. These companies operate in 21 sectors, from health care equipment through to AI, have aggregated revenues of €1.3 billion and employ over 6000 people. The 26 UK companies are spread across the country, from Liverpool through to Wales and the West Country. The launch of ELITE Scotland in January 2019 saw seven new companies join and we celebrated with a Market Open attended by The Right Honourable Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, who said, “London Stock Exchange Group’s global ELITE programme has helped many companies around the world to secure funding, succeed and grow – including some from Scotland such as BrewDog and Skyscanner. I’m very pleased there is now a dedicated Scottish programme – ELITE Scotland – bringing together investors, public sector agencies and some of Scotland’s best and most ambitious companies.”

Seven of the European companies are from Hungary and have come through our collaboration with Budapest Stock Exchange, highlighting our strong commitment to working closely with our partners across the world.

In Italy, we have also seen 98 new companies join ELITE, with combined total revenue of €5.8 billion and over 20,400 employees. We also entered into a partnership with Leonardo, the global aerospace, defence and security company listed in Italy, to support their extensive supply chain of growing companies. The first group of 22 companies joined under the ELITE-Leonardo lounge on 6 May.

 

Events

We’ve led a number of our own events as well as participating in many conferences, roundtables and discussions.  Our ELITE Evenings in London have welcomed great business leaders including Davide Grasso, former CMO of Nike and CEO of Converse and Paul Thompson (Founder) and Steve Franks (CEO) of ELITE company Waterbabies. These events remain a great opportunity for companies and partners within the ELITE community to network in an informal setting. Outside of our events, members of ELITE have attended and presented at Companies To Inspire Africa, launched by the London Stock Exchange in January, Scale Up Summit in Milan in March and our CEO, Luca Peyrano spoke at Founders Forum in London in June. 

 

Looking Forward

A lot more is planned for the rest of 2019! On 27 and 28 October we will be hosting our annual ELITE Day where we will have companies and partners from the whole community coming to London to listen to an inspiring list of speaker sessions and to take advantage of an exciting networking opportunity.
